The Story

Kona in Sanskrit means angle. We grow in yoga because we take different angles and shapes during classes. And because we do so, stepping out of the yoga mat to the regular everyday life, we also change angles. How we see the world, how we communicate with others and most important the angle from which we see ourselves. Kona Yoga is a place for you to start or continue your journey. We are waiting to be your second home. 

On the small quiet street in Bratislava is located our bright and beautiful Kona Yoga Studio.

It is a place dedicated to yoga, meditation and wellbeing. 

Kona Yoga is one of the few English speaking yoga studios in Bratislava. Our goal is to bring yoga to as many people as possible.

In 2018 Jen Neruda started her yoga teaching journey in Nepal, Kathmandu. She wanted to learn more about this ancient practice and since then started to develop herself as a yoga teachers. With the help of her teachers Jen discovered techniques of Classical Hatha yoga in Himalayan tradition.

This approach is simple and accessible. It is concentrated on breath and movement, brings meditative and nourishing effects and leads you to a journey of self-transformation. We would like to share our knowledge with you and grow together.

In 2021 Jen and Pavol Neruda joined to create a space for everyone, built a beautiful community and continued to bring peace and love to this space. In December 2024 the studio changed owners, bringing in one of their own, Gabi Buday.

Gabriela, a founder and yoga instructor behind Oysis Yoga Studio. Her journey from the fast-paced world of finance to the mindful practice of yoga has been anything but conventional.

 

A former assistant auditor and CFO, she once thrived on climbing the corporate ladder—until she burned out. That turning point led her to rediscover herself through travel and, ultimately, yoga.

 

What started as a personal healing practice quickly grew into a passion. Over the years, she's earned international yoga certifications, taught classes, hosted workshops, and organized retreats in Slovakia and abroad.

 

Along the way, life blessed her with a loving husband, a child, and a deeper purpose, sharing the transformative power of yoga through Oysis—a space designed to be an oasis in the city for growth, connection, and self-discovery.

Visak is a yoga teacher, Ayurvedic therapist and massager, who gathered education and experience in these areas in various Ayurvedic health resorts and hospitals during several years.  Apart from that, he worked in Sivananda Yoga Vedanta in Chennai as a yoga teacher. Visak, as a true Indian, has yoga and Ayurveda in his DNA.


Since 2015, Visak lives and teaches yoga in Slovakia. In his classes, he aims at developing physical strength based on Hatha yoga principles. However, he will never push you to do what you are not ready for, but instead will help you to move your boundaries and turn your weakness into strength.


’ The aim of yoga practice is to teach your mind to bring into your daily life acceptance of all difficulties'.

Victoria Fitz

Victoria is an internationally celebrated Yoga teacher known for her rituals, humor, and ability to empower her students. She is a North Carolina native that began her Yoga journey through Bikram during her high-school years. After being in a car accident, she discovered Yoga really helped with physical therapy and the process of healing her body.

 

In 2018 she completed her RYT 500 in Thailand and Indonesia and is currently living in Slovakia teaching various methods of Yoga such as Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin & Sound Healing. She has traveled all over the globe to learn different techniques, philosophies and adaptations of class for alignment and digestive health. 

 

Victoria has found that her love and focus is within Ayurveda and Astrology - bringing calmness to the body by balancing the Chakras and harmonizing with the Moon phases. She works with the 5 Elements and uses Essential Oils and Crystals to connect with the senses while in her class. 

In 2022 Victoria started facilitating Cacao Ceremonies for her students to offer guidance during the changing seasons.

Nika Fulajtar

Nika is a yoga enthusiast with a marketing spirit since she works in a marketing field as a brand manager. 
Yoga came in to her life on her exchange program in Prague in 2015 and from that time on it is her daily essential. In May 2022 her dream came true and she finished her 200 YTT in Bali.

 

During past years Nika gained a lot of inspiration from many foreign teachers and yoga studios that she has visited during her travels.

Nika is also a passionate baker, so who knows, she may bring some of her goods that you can try after class ;)

Ivana first attended a yoga lesson in 2020 during difficult times in her life. She was amazed with the power of this practice and what it did to her on an emotional level when she realized she had cried the whole lesson, yoga washing her pain away. She became addicted (in a good way :) of going inwards, enjoying silence thus being able to hear her innermost self.

 

She loves meditation and mindfulness in every way, from Yoga Nidra to Mindful Touch Therapy - a slow gentle massage technique that helps you feel every part of your body with a full awareness, which leads to a deep relaxation and meditative state of mind.

Dominika Hozlárová

Dominika first discovered yoga eight years ago, when she turned to the practice due to health issues. She became so captivated by it that she began to explore it more deeply, and eventually completed her Yoga Teacher Training successfully.

 

Dominika’s yoga teaching is rooted in the breath-based Vinyasa and Hatha yoga. She encourages students to move at their own pace and work slowly toward more challenging yoga poses. During her classes, she emphasizes the correct alignment of poses, offers assistance in postures, and also uses various props.

 

“Yoga is an opportunity to give your body what it needs in different ways, whether that’s recharging with energy, relaxing, or, most importantly, becoming aware of the present moment.”

Barbora, a professional pastry chef , has been practicing yoga since 2014 when she first experienced it in the beautiful landscapes of Portugal—not in a studio, but under the open sky. That moment sparked her deep connection with yoga and Ayurveda, inspiring her to explore these practices further.

 

Upon returning to Slovakia, she fell in love with Ashtanga yoga, drawn to its depth and complexity.

 

Over the years, her practice has evolved, especially through the journey of two pregnancies. For Barbora, this is the true beauty of yoga—it adapts to every stage of life, meeting each person exactly where they are.

 

Yoga is your therapy, and after practice, you should feel good. So do it in a way that feels right for you – it’s here for you.
